Holistic Life Coach Training Course

Welcome to this information document about the holistic coach training course facilitated by Life Coaching Associates (LCA). LCA has been running this course for 10 years now and have taken their place as one of the leaders in the field of coaching and training. We were a finalist in the best training provider category in the 2010 TIME Convention's "People's Choice Awards".

The course has been very recently overhauled and restructured to make it more comprehensive and to guarantee that it remains at the forefront of training in this industry. So it is our privilege to offer this new course and look forward to talking it through with you and introducing you to this exciting opportunity.

General Notes

The Life Coach Training course is a powerful intensive course that works on 4 levels:

The first is that it invites participants to undertake their own journey of transformational change. All of our work is about creating transformational change for people, so course students go through the same experience.

The nature of the course is that it often tends to attract people who have been involved in personal development, yet they still find that this course is utterly unique and provides experiences that are not available elsewhere. The common feedback we hear is that this course has changed my life.

The second aspect is professional training for becoming a life coach and you are thoroughly training in all the skills of life coaching. Our coaching is about creating transformational change within people so you learn a whole range of skills to achieve that end. Participants are training to a high level of professional competence and are given a thorough grounding in the principles and processes of a professional practice.

You learn about and get plenty of practice with;

  • Holistic Coaching: theory and practice
  • Stages of Human Development
  • The 3 levels of listening
  • Embedding values and creating a life of value
  • Coaching as ‘Cultivating Soul Presence’
  • Breath & Energy work
  • Understanding and changing core beliefs
  • The cycle of change and initiating change with clients
  • How to dissolve and move beyond fear
  • Reframing and refocusing
  • Anchoring techniques
  • Coaching to draw out vision and passion
  • Dealing with sabotage patterns
  • A range of specialised exercises & processes
  • Crisis Coaching and mental illness
  • Working with intuition
  • The subtle patterns of language
  • Understanding and working with
  • Archetypes Integrating the shadow
  • Goal setting
  • Creating personal responsibility
  • Professionalism & professional principles
  • Establishing a Life Coach Practice
  • Business Set up

It is a very holistic course and continually explores all the ways of creating and sustaining the sense of wholeness that enables people to experience a dynamic sense of purpose and fulfilment in life.

The 3rd aspect is setting up your own professional practice after the course if that is your desire. The last 2 modules have a strong emphasis on business set up and there you will receive a lot of ideas and information to help you with this endeavour. The last thing we want is for people to come through the course as great life coaches but then fail to make the transition into their own practice because of lack of support.

Some of the assignments towards the end of the course are to help prepare you for this transition.

The nature of the training is that you can easily integrate it with other aligned modalities. These days there is a global phenomenon where people are creating career portfolios that may include skills and training in a number of aligned disciplines. Life Coaching certainly lends itself to that.

The 4th aspect is full personal support and mentoring for the duration of the course, which is offered mainly as a free coaching session between each module.

Course style and flavour:

The style of the course is a mixture of 3 aspects that have been combined to give you maximum benefit from the training while making it flexible enough to fit in with a modern busy lifestyle. The 3 aspects include:

  1. Modules.
This involves attending modules with the whole training group. There are 10 modules in total. The first prerequisite module is 4 days, and the remaining 9 are either two or three days in length. These modules cover all the main teaching subjects of the course as well as being powerful experiences of personal growth and transformation. The respective dates for the 2011 / 2012 course are on the Christchurch, Wellington or Auckland pages of the website

  2. Assignments.
Throughout the course each student will be required to complete a set number of assignments. There are a variety of assignments but most involve research followed by a piece of work to be handed in. Most of the assignments are the same for every student, but there is also 1 that a student chooses from a list of elective subjects. The details of these assignments will be explained fully on the relevant modules

  3. Case Study Hours.
Each student will be required to complete 100 hours of case study work. This will involve taking 12 volunteer clients through a coaching programme each, with some of those sessions done privately and some supervised by a course tutor.

The course itself is very interactive and experiential and is guided by 3 principles:

  • Training by Choice.
We want all our coaches to be shining examples of the coaching we offer and so each student is required to take their own journey of transformational change. However, it is each individual’s choice how far they take that journey. We respect the fact that every body’s choice is sacred to them. We may challenge you to be clear why you are making your choices but will respect the choice that you feel is right for you.

  • Training by Discovery.
It is not our job to tell people what to believe or what to take on board. We set up the environment where each student will be offered a high degree of profound up-to-date knowledge and understanding on many subjects but at the end of the day it is for you to discover what that means for you and how you will relate to it.

  • Working in Real Time
Not only is the course experiential but it is also very intensive and at times very challenging. It gives students the opportunity to work with and transform any and every aspect of their lives that they wish. Therefore we work in real time, which means that when issues arise for students during the modules we work with them then and there. This has the double benefit of helping the individual to clear something right then and also gives the tutors the chance to demonstrate and model our style of coaching.

COMPREHENSIVE COURSE OUTLINE:

Prerequisite:

Module One: Life Foundation – 4 days

The Foundation Course is a powerful experience of personal transformation. It is carefully structured to work directly with your levels of self-awareness and self-responsibility. Throughout the module you will be guided and challenged to release the grip of the past, work dynamically with the cycle of change and learn to become a conscious co-creator of your life.
